Abeano Music

A new music blog

About Abeano Music

Abeano Music began in Spring 2008. It was initially the blog of the record label of the same name. While the imprint was relatively successful, releasing amongst other things the first ever Vampire Weekend record in the UK , I decided that blogging was a more immediate and fun way of getting music to people then releasing 7”. And it weighs less than 1000 copies of 7” vinyl.

Things have changed a bit in the 2 years since Abeano.com began. In the first year, I did 99% of the blogging myself, but recently, I’ve enlisted the help of some very on-the-case writers, Alison King , Helen Sheffield , Camille Augarde and Rhian Daly . Between us we’ve posted exclusives for everyone from The XX to Vampire Weekend, Hot Chip to Shakira and been one of the first blogs to post about the likes of Wu Lyf, Jai Paul and Jay Electronica. We plan to try and keep this up in the future.

About Imran

Hello. My name’s Imran. I love new music and this blog is about getting the most amazing new music to the largest number people possible. In the past, I’ve written about new music for a wide range of publications, principally for NME where I came up with the Radar section, now run by Jaimie Hodgson. I also presented regularly for BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music, and promoted some fun parties too. Nowadays, I just stay in and listen to bands on myspace.
